Supremacism in Singapura
Transcript:
All of us know that the Malay community has the lowest socio-economic and educational status in Singapura. That is beyond dispute.
The question for us is…why?
There are two possibilities…
Internal factors: The Malays are biologically and culturally weak or
External factors: The system weakens them.
The PAP leadership…including Malays in the party has always claimed it is due to the Malay’s biological or cultural weakness.
This is understandable because to reject it is to admit that they are responsible for the problem.
Malays in the PAP agree with it to justify their support of a racist party to themselves.
What about the non-PAP Chinese?
Some accept that the system is at fault.
Some others, however, blame the Malays.
Reading their comments, it is clear to me why they refuse to accept the PAP’s culpability.
They support the PAP and whatever their leaders say is the truth.
They believe in Chinese superiority and Malay inferiority.
They look at the state of the Malays as evidence that they are superior. To show evidence that Malays have been systemically suppressed is to destroy their sense of racial superiority.
And that is something they cannot accept.
