Yesterday, we wrote how PERGAS and MUIS have abandoned their responsibility to uphold Islam and morality in the community.
Even as the LGBT movement is pushing hard to promote the Gay lifestyle to Muslims in Singapore, these two organisations have remained silent.
Even as someone like Azfar Anwar, a former Project Officer at the Office of Mufti founded a Gay Muslim group, PERGAS and MUIS have remained silent.
Imagine if Ustadz Abdillah Al Jufri was around.
Or Ustadz Abu Bakar Hashim.
Or Ustadz Zhulkeflee Ismail.
Try telling them that Muslims can attend “gay weddings.”
Try telling them the problem is that Muslims reject homosexuality.
Try telling them that an “Ustadz” is a founder of a Gay Muslim group.
We have lost religious teachers who would stand up for Islam and morality.
And they have been replaced with asatizah who are so lacking in public morality and courage.
When the Institute of Policy Studies invited some Muslim activists who rejected homosexuality to a forum with LGBT advocates, I asked Ustadz Zhulkeflee Ismail for advice.
He told me not to attend.
He argued that we should not legitimise them. Our rejection of the LGBT movement should be absolute.
We reject their movement fully. There is no middle ground. No compromises. We were told to speak clearly and firmly against the movement.
But of course now, not only have our asatizah conceded the middle ground, we are told to accept and respect homosexuality.
How the virtuous have fallen.
But Alhamdulillah, not all is lost.
There are still pockets of resistance.
There are still asatizah who would speak clearly.
Ustadz Noor Deros founded the wearwhite movement in 2014. MUIS refused to support him. In fact, MUIS gave instructions that their officers should not support wearwhite in anyway so as not to antagonise the LGBT lobby and the government.
Mufti Ustadz Fatris Bakaram attended the event in his personal capacity, in support of Islam and morality. And for that we are grateful.
Now, there are other asatizah who are speaking up. Ustadz Anwar Hussain have started discussing the issue and seem concerned. We pray that Allah grant him strength and success.
Ustadz Mazdiuki Ishak produced a book “Advice for the LGBT” through Nusantara Books to help Muslims who are struggling with these desires.
Alhamdulillah. These are commendable efforts and should be supported.
For years, as a community, we have pretended as though the LGBT movement will not touch us.
We have looked away, as though this is not our problem.
We have kept quiet and ignored the challenge.
And now we are slowly waking up to how the LGBT movement is trying to infiltrate our community.
We are waking up to how they are trying to spread homosexuality to Muslims.
We are waking up to how some of our young asatizah have been corrupted.
The LGBT movement will not go away just because we ignore them.
They will infiltrate every sector of the Muslim community.
They have already influenced some of the young asatizah.
It is time for us to stand up.
It is time for us to speak up.
It is time we support the asatizah who are on the forefront against this movement.
They will need all the help we can give.
