The last couple of days, some asatizah have tried to explain their neglect that led to the LGBT making inroads into the Muslim community.
Some asatizah rightly pointed out that they or others have been active in challenging the LGBT movement.
Alhamdulillah.
However, some others chose to defend their neglect.
I am relieved that one of the Ustadz who had previously made excuses for the LGBT movement has now withdrawn his support.
Last week, he made excuses for them.
He mistakenly claimed that the LGBT movement was made up of people who fought and promoted homosexuality because they were abused for being “unique.”
He blamed it on us for rejecting the LGBT. And he wanted us to give them the rights they demanded.
He ended his post with the rainbow LGBT support flag.
As we advised, he should have learned about the movement before discussing it.
The LGBT movement is not fighting for their rights that they lost for being “unique.”
They want to make homosexuality normal and accepted by everyone.
After our post, he wrote:
He still does not understand the difference between LGBT movement and homosexuals.
The LGBT movement want us to support their sexual politics. It is different from people who simply have desire.
But this is progress. At least he is a little clearer that he reject the movement.
There are however, asatizah who keep ignoring the situation.
A Senior MUIS Ustadz claimed that we have not seen with our eyes that Azfar have homosexual sex.
We do not claim that Azfar has publicly performed homosexual acts.
Our concern is that Azfar is promoting homosexuality in the community.
For example, Azfar started a group for Gay Muslims in Singapore.
In a post with the background of two Muslim men hugging and about to kiss…
Azfar argued that Islam does not prohibit homosexual desires.
He claimed that Islam is not against homosexuality.
Instead, like many who are trying hard to promote homosexuality among Muslims, he pretended as though it is the Jews and Christians who reject it.
He also supports Muslims to become transgender.
He advised that if your uncle wants to become a female, then you should celebrate it and hope he will “start his hormones soon.”
What has PERGAS and MUIS done to counter his movement?
In all our conversations, the asatizah who try to defend PERGAS and MUIS’ inaction claimed we should not assume the two organisations are not doing anything.
But when we discuss with asatizah in MUIS and PERGAS, they made excuses.
They claim that Azfar is not an Ustaz so MUIS and PERGAS has nothing to do with him.
But MUIS referred to him as an Ustadz before. In their press statement on 21st September 2015, MUIS’ Chief executive said:
“I am pleased to announce that Ust Muhammad Azfar will be awarded the Muis Postgraduate Scholarship this year to pursue his postgraduate study in Islamic Thought and History at the prestigious University of Oxford.”
MUIS not only referred to Azfar as an Ustadz, they gave him a scholarship.
Now that Azfar is promoting homosexuality, MUIS want to ignore it?
PERGAS and MUIS are responsible for the asatizah in Singapore. MUIS referred to Azfar as an Ustadz.
Gave him a scholarship.
Azfar is now using his former position as a Project Officer at Office of Mufti to promote the Gay life among Muslims in Singapore.
And what does PERGAS and MUIS do?
They make excuses.
And this is exactly why Azfar and the Gay life will get deeper into the Muslim community in Singapore.
He uses his former position as a Project Officer at the Office of Mufti to convince Muslims to accept homosexuality.
For MUIS and PERGAS, please make it clear to the Muslim community that Azfar is not an Ustadz and that the LGBT movement is to be rejected.
We have enough excuses.
It is time we get clarity.
It is time these organisations speak clearly.
