The ISD and PAP claimed that I supported ISIS.
And they pretended that I used my website and Facebook group, Al-Makhazin to promote their terror.
How easy to make fitnah when they are the only ones who could speak.
I have never been an ISIS supporter.
I supported the Syrian revolution because Bashar Al-Assad is a murderous tyrant.
It was about opposing a tyrant. Not about supporting ISIS.
I initially doubted the accusations on ISIS.
The second RRG Ustadz that I met in detention , Ustadz F, asked me why I doubted the accusations.
I told him to refer to Surah Al Hujurat, Ayat 6.
I would not believe accusations on Muslims just because we are told to believe it.
I have a clear principle.
Harming others, especially civilians is haram. Every Muslim knows that our responsibility is to protect the weak and to end oppression.
In the article “Terrorism is not about perverting Islam” (Read here)I had already made it clear that there can be no justification for terrorism.
If someone tells me Muslims seek to cause harm and destruction, I will not believe it until there is clear proof.
When ISIS came in the media spotlight, I was actively speaking against the Bashar Al-Assad government’s genocide. I was against Bashar for his tyranny. Read an article in 2014 about Bashar’s brutality.
I supported the Free Syrian Army and the coalition trying to get rid of Bashar.
Whenever I heard any group winning against the Bashar government, I was happy. When a group called ISIS won a battle at Mosul, I was optimistic.
I had no clue who ISIS was. My interest was that Bashar’s tyranny would hopefully end.
When there were claims that this group, ISIS, committed atrocities I did not believe it at first because it was not the conduct of Muslims. Especially those fighting against tyranny.
I argued that I would “reserve judgement”. There were too many conflicting reports. I did not know which was true.
It took me a couple of months to verify the reports. All the while, my position was that I would suspend judgement until we get clearer evidence.
When it became clear that they were guilty, I opposed them. I argued against ISIS.
I wrote posts and uploaded articles on AlMakhazin by Islamic scholars that criticised them.
My opposition to ISIS was clear. And I used AlMakhazin to oppose them.
But of course, the ISD and PAP would not publicise that.
They would not publicly admit that I had never supported ISIS or that I criticised it.
Instead, they relied on supposed “confessions” and a picture of me and my kids with the Shahadah flag. (Read here)
And all the while, they suppressed information that I had repeatedly spoken against ISIS and what it stood for.
And so many Muslims forget how to behave when receiving news from the fasiq.
When receiving news from ISD and PAP, verify it first.
