Amazing how easily Singaporeans are tricked by the ISD/ PAP.
According to the ISD/ PAP, I was an ISIS supporter.
Their main evidence was the picture of me and my children with the Shahadah flag.
And yet, that is not an ISIS flag.
It is a general Shahadah flag. The flag has been used by Muslims for centuries.
This is ISIS’ flag:
ISIS had their own font and styles. I never used the ISIS flag.
But what actually happened? Why did I use the flag?
On 14th July 2014, when Israel attacked Gaza, a Muslim Singaporean by the name Ghulam flew the Palestinian flag in front of his flat. He wanted to show solidarity with the Palestinians. Read the article here.
He was told by the police to remove it.
According to the police, it was illegal to fly the flag of another state in Singapore. I checked the law and found out that it was true.
The next day (actually the day the report came out), I wrote a post asking if we are not allowed to use the Palestinian flag to show solidarity, why not use the shahadah flag instead since it represents the ummah?
I then bought the shahadah flag online and took a picture with my sons to show solidarity with Palestine.
A couple of months later, some people tried to claim that was an ISIS flag.
Nonsense.
The shahadah flag is a common flag. It is not an ISIS flag.
In response, I wrote another post to reiterate that it was in support of Gaza, not ISIS.
Let us be clear.
ISIS does not have a monopoly of Islamic symbols.
Just because they tried to hijack it does not give them the right to it.
The shahadah flag has been used for centuries. It has nothing to do with terrorism.
Do not allow terrorists or those against the ummah to insult the shahadah.
The shahadah flag belongs to us. Not ISIS.
And we should not allow anyone to insult our shahadah.
And never allow it to be equated with terrorism.
